Led by the esteemed Dr. Adrián Cormillot (MN 100.237), a new episode of Infobae Talks was presented, focusing on significant advancements in health and technology. Key issues including scientific innovation and the impact of new developments on the quality of life were extensively discussed.

This program brought together health professionals and executives from various companies, providing the audience with diverse insights into the future of medicine and the transformative tools at play.

Among the guests of the Infobae Talks Salud was Marcelo Figueiras, president of Laboratorios Richmond, who emphasized the inauguration of the VIDA biotechnological plant, which aims to enhance health sovereignty in Argentina through the production of vaccines, insulins, and biotechnological medicines.

Spanning 11,000 square meters, the facility is equipped to produce up to 500 million doses annually, collaborating with international regulators and positioning itself as a leading figure in the global pharmaceutical industry. “Our goal is to promote local research and turn the capabilities of Argentine professionals into an industrial driver for the country,” revealed the executive.

Another speaker of the day was Alfredo Weber, general director of Gador, who highlighted notable advancements, such as a new treatment for spinal muscular atrophy and the integration of cutting-edge technologies at their Pilar plant.

He also introduced a unique oral contraceptive with the active ingredient “estetrol” in Argentina: “This is a significant breakthrough not only for women’s health but also for environmental protection, as it has a reduced impact on aquatic ecosystems.”

Dr. Matías Deprati (MN 98.130), medical affairs director of Laboratorio Elea, joined the Infobae Talks to discuss the prevalence of type 2 diabetes in Argentina, which affects 12.7% of those over 18. In response to this situation, the company announced the availability of oral semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogue that enhances treatment adherence and improves patients’ quality of life.

This product launch has shown comparable results to its injectable counterpart. “It reduces the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death by 14% and helps patients maintain optimal glucose control,” stated the physician.

Another participant at Infobae Talks Salud was Leandro Martínez Melo, head of Companion Animals at Biogénesis Bagó, who highlighted the role of vaccination in responsible pet ownership and in preventing disease transmission to humans. Based on this, the company launched a public awareness campaign called “Más Amor, Menos Rabia.”

Moreover, the professional discussed an innovation called Biochip: a subcutaneous microchip designed to securely and effectively record health information. “It serves as a unique ID that facilitates identification and unifies the medical history of the animal,” the professional explained.

The program concluded with remarks from dentist Hernán Bogo (MN 25.039), who stated that one in three adults experiences dental sensitivity, a temporary discomfort caused by stimuli such as cold, heat, or sweet foods. “The key is to differentiate between this condition and pathologies like cavities to apply appropriate treatment,” he expressed.

To prevent this condition, the professional recommended regular check-ups and maintaining proper oral hygiene. He also highlighted advancements in treatments such as Novamin technology, found in Sensodyne products, which creates a protective barrier over the damaged area and acts preventively by strengthening the surface.

Undoubtedly, the program offered a comprehensive view of the scientific and technological advancements transforming health in Argentina and worldwide. Through interviews with industry leaders, essential topics were addressed, such as domestic drug production, innovations in treatments, and prevention and wellness-oriented tools.

Focusing on improving the quality of life, the guests, alongside a recognized professional like Dr. Cormillot, discussed a variety of areas. The insights shared by these experts highlighted the positive impact of science and the need to promote local research, reinforcing the commitment to a healthier and more sustainable future for society.
